Estate Clearing When You Live in Another City or Abroad
Many family members live far from the deceased's home town, sometimes even abroad. That's not an obstacle — we explain how the whole clearing can be handled reliably without you needing to travel there at all.
Not everyone lives near a loved one’s home. Some family members moved to another city years ago, some live abroad, and some simply have no way to travel there even once. This is an entirely normal situation, and the whole process is designed to work well in it too.
Why handling things remotely isn’t a problem
Most of the work — sorting belongings, removal, recycling, and cleaning — doesn’t require the family’s presence at all. The one thing that genuinely benefits from someone being there is identifying valuables and documents, and there are workable solutions for that too, without needing to be physically present.
How a remote clearing works in practice
1. Communication by phone or email
The whole process — from requesting a quote to the final report — can be handled entirely by phone and email. You don’t need a separate visit at any stage unless you want one.
2. Photo and video documentation
Before and during the clearing, we can send photos of any valuables, documents, or other noteworthy items we find. If you want to see the contents of a specific room or cupboard before it’s touched, we can arrange a short video call if needed.
3. Agreements without a physical signature
Accepting the quote, agreeing on a date, and final invoicing can all be handled by email. We don’t require anyone to travel to the property to sign anything on paper.
4. Arranging keys without you being present
Key collection and handover are arranged based on what’s practically possible: for example through a property manager, a neighbour, or a locksmith service if needed, if no keys are otherwise available.
5. A final report
Once the work is done, you get a summary of what was done: what was found, where the items ended up, and whether a final clean was carried out. This is especially useful if the estate is being administered from elsewhere and you need documentation, for example for an estate administrator.
Example: clearing across different parts of Finland
We serve the whole of Finland, so we can handle the clearing regardless of where you yourself live. For example, if a loved one’s home is in Helsinki but you live in another city or abroad, the entire process is handled remotely just as described above. The same applies to Oulu, or anywhere else — distance doesn’t affect how reliable the process is.

If you live abroad, time differences and banking or payment matters can feel more complicated. In practice, this doesn’t change the process itself — we agree on communication times that suit you, and the invoice can be paid by a normal bank transfer from anywhere in the world.
